Frequently asked questions

For account help and contact emails, see Support. Legal terms: Privacy, Terms.

Does AlertNaija replace 112 or the police?

No. For any life-threatening emergency, call 112 (Nigeria) or your local emergency number first. AlertNaija is an extra community layer — not a dispatch service and not a guarantee that someone will respond.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → Profile → Delete account. If you can’t sign in, follow the email option on alertnaija.com/delete-account. We process verified email requests within 30 days.

What data do you collect?

We explain categories, purposes, and your rights in the Privacy Policy (alertnaija.com/privacy), including location, account details, and content you submit. We do not sell your personal information.

Is AlertNaija for children?

No. You must be at least 13 years old. We don’t knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Is AlertNaija free?

Core safety and feed features are free. Some optional partner services (for example in-app bookings) may charge their own fees, shown before you confirm.

Will my reports be public?

Many reports appear in a community-style feed for your area so neighbours can see what’s going on. You can limit personal details as described in the app and Privacy Policy.

How do you reduce abuse?

We combine verification tiers, automated moderation on uploads, reporting tools, disputes, and audit logs. Serious violations may be referred to authorities where the law requires.
