Child safety standards

Published standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) for AlertNaija, operated by ALERTNAIJA DIGITAL SOLUTIONS (trading as AlertNaija). Business name registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Nigeria. BN 9517386.

Our commitment

AlertNaija is a community safety product for people 13 and older. We prohibit child sexual abuse material (CSAM), sexual exploitation of minors, grooming, and any content that sexualizes children. We design the product to reduce harm and to act quickly when abuse is reported.

What we ban

  • Any CSAM or links to CSAM
  • Sexual content involving anyone under 18 (real or depicted)
  • Grooming, solicitation, or trafficking of minors
  • Requests for sexual images of minors
  • Attempts to use AlertNaija to contact or exploit children

Violations can lead to immediate content removal, account suspension or ban, and reports to competent authorities where required by law.

Age and accounts

  • Users must be at least 13 years old
  • We collect date of birth at signup to enforce the age gate
  • We are not a dating app and do not offer child-directed social features

How to report child safety concerns

In the app

  • Use report / flag controls on user-generated posts and incident content where available
  • Or email safety@alertnaija.com from the device you use with AlertNaija and include links, screenshots, or report IDs

On the web

Include: what you saw, when, approximate location or report ID if known, and any screenshots. Do not attach or forward CSAM files — describe them and let us retrieve content from our systems when possible.

How we respond

  • Prioritize child-safety reports over ordinary moderation queues
  • Remove confirmed violating content and restrict or ban the account
  • Preserve records as needed for law-enforcement requests and applicable legal duties
  • Report to regional and national authorities when required (including NAPTIP / Nigeria Police channels and other competent agencies as applicable)

Prevention practices

  • Age gate at registration (13+)
  • Photo moderation on user-submitted report media
  • Terms that ban illegal and exploitative content
  • Human review of flagged safety reports
  • Account enforcement for repeat or severe abuse
